FAQ

Short answers to common questions.

Does this replace Confluence's own Watch button?

No. The app presses Watch for people, using Confluence's normal watches. People see and manage them as usual.

Will the app remove watches people set up themselves?

No, with one known limit. If the app added a watch and the person later also pressed Watch on the same page, Confluence stores just one watch, and the app can't tell the two apart. If that person then leaves the group, the watch is removed. They can press Watch again. Watches people set up before the rule are never touched.

Someone joined the group. When do they start watching?

At the next sync: within the hour by default, or within a day if you set daily syncs. Click Sync now on the rule to do it straight away.

Can I use Atlassian teams instead of groups?

Not yet. Rules use Confluence groups.

Can I make rules by page label?

Not yet. It's on the list for a later version.

Someone can't see a page. What happens?

They're skipped and counted on the rule. The app never gives anyone access to anything.

Someone unwatched. Will they be added back?

Only if the rule is Required. See Opt-outs.

How many emails will this send?

The preview shows an estimate before you save. See Email and big rules.

Is there a size limit?

Yes: 50,000 person-page pairs per rule. Use a whole-space rule for big groups.

Can space admins make rules?

Yes, for their own spaces, if a site admin turns it on in Settings.

What if our license lapses?

Syncing stops and existing watches stay. Renew to start again.

What happens when I uninstall?

The app's data is deleted and the watches stay. Clean up first if you want them gone. See Before you uninstall.

Does any data leave Atlassian?

No. The app runs on Atlassian's Forge platform and has no outside servers. See Privacy.

Is this made by Atlassian?

No. It's made by Gold Standard Web, a partner in the Atlassian Marketplace.
